Definitely. The wonders of technology may have failed us on flying cars, but we can certainly harness them to work together regardless of where you are.
Q: WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?
We know that it's nice to see a price list in order to gauge whether or not a company's services work within your budget. The issue is that the scope of our services vary so greatly from project to project that standardized pricing doesn't address the entire picture.
When it comes to website design, in particular, the difference between each project is quite vast. We tackle anything from single landing pages up to multi-page websites with built-in e-commerce and blogging (where the price depends on the number of pages, features, amount of custom coding, copywriting, etc.).
Our services and fees are geared toward small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. We'd love to talk to you about your needs and provide you with a quote once we get an idea of what you're looking for.
Q: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I NEED FROM A NEW WEBSITE. CAN YOU HELP?
Yes, we can. Some people come to us knowing exactly what they want, while others only know that they need something new. We'll go through a discovery process to help you get clarity on what exactly you need your website to do for you or your business.
Q: IS SQUARESPACE THE ONLY WEBSITE PLATFORM THAT YOU DESIGN FOR?
It is. This mostly has to do with how easy it will be for a client to manage their own website once we hand it off to them. SquareSpace is one of the easiest platforms to manage, particularly for non-techies. We want you to be able to alter copy, swap out images, and keep your website updated without hiring someone to do it.
SquareSpace also has a great support community and lots of plug-ins and third-party partnerships that make developing a site on their platform faster and more fluid.
Q: DO YOU DO WEB ANIMATION OR CUSTOMIZED APPS?
We're confident that we can meet the design needs for the majority of individuals and small businesses looking for a unique website that's authentic to who they are. And we have a lot of tricks in our bag...but we're not animators, app coders, or custom UI designers. To be honest, those services will increase the cost of your project by thousands (sometime tens-of-thousands) of dollars.
If the scope of your project exceeds our abilities, we'll be happy to refer you to a qualified firm.
Q: IS COPYWRITING INCLUDED WITH WEBSITES YOU DESIGN?
Standard website design does not include copy. As part of your "homework" during the development stage, you'll be tasked with creating the copy for your website.
However, we do offer Website + Communication services, whereby we will write your website copy. You'll still have homework to do, in terms of providing us with the necessary information and guidance, but we'll walk through the entire process together.
Q: DO YOU WRITE COPY FOR WEBSITES YOU DIDN'T DESIGN?
Absolutely. We're here to take on (almost) any writing task that you may have.
Q: WILL YOU PROVIDE TECH SUPPORT FOR MY WEBSITE?
The short answer: In a limited capacity.
The long answer: We'll be here to take care of any tech issues you have within the first 30 days of launching your site. After that, it'll be up to you to troubleshoot technical issues with SquareSpace (either via their support team or their community of volunteers).
The main reason for this is that once your site is up and running, there aren't many things that can go wrong, outside of someone going into the backend and making a change that doesn't work. This is why we'll thoroughly walk you through the backend of your website when we hand you the keys — we want to make sure that you know how to make changes to your content.
That said...you're welcome to ask us about anything at anytime. If it's something we can easily answer, even after those first 30 days, we'll be happy to do so. If the solution requires time, we'll provide you a quote for service fees.
We also offer a retainer program for continuing support. Ask us for more information if you're interested.
Q: WHAT IF MY COMMUNICATION OR SUPPORT NEEDS ARE MORE LONG-TERM?
There are times when you need communication or administrative support that extend beyond a one-time "project," but aren't large enough to require a full-time employee. If this is the case, we're happy to offer our services for a monthly retainer fee, whereby we'll define the scope of our support on a monthly basis and price it accordingly.
Simply let us know when you no longer require our services — we won't take it personally.
Q: IS PUBLIC RELATIONS PART OF YOUR COMMUNICATION SERVICES?
We are not a PR firm. We're here to craft your press-release or public statement, but our services don't include sending it out or connecting you with media channels. If you need a recommendation for PR, we're happy to make one.
Q: I NEED HELP WITH (INSERT YOUR ISSUE). CAN I USE YOUR SUPPORT SERVICES?
People generally have a lot of skill sets, but not every skill set. And, when you're trying to run a business (whether you're a career coach, a startup whiskey distillery, or a Broadway actor), it can feel like you need to attack multiple fronts at once, often utilizing skills (or time) that you simply don't have.
You could hire a permanent employee to help you out, but you may not have the money — or continual work — to keep someone on salary. This is where we can help.
